The idea for a regenerative farm started in 2025 when local farm owner Bob met local farmer Sam. Bob’s family has owned the farm since the 1970’s and after hearing about regenerative farming he was looking for someone to implement it on his land.

Sam grew up in North Carolina, but first came to Wisconsin when he attended Marquette University. Following graduation, Sam served as a pilot in the United States Marine Corps for 8+ years.

After learning more about the industrial food system and its effect on the health of communities, Sam became interested in regenerative farming. It was through the writings of Wendell Berry and Dorothy Day that he was convinced of becoming a farmer. His wife Claire was skeptical of the idea but agreed to give it a try on the condition that the family move back to her hometown of Lake Geneva.

Sam is grateful for the many mentors and people who have supported this farm being born. He first gained experience in regenerative farming while working with Paul and Marisa at Starry Nights Farm. Due to their mentorship and generosity, Sam was able to start his own operation in 2026.

Sam's favorite thing about farming is the community and the food. He believes real food and relationships build strong communities.
